About Our Rabbi

Rabbi Moshe Freedman joined us in April 2009. He comes from Kingston-Upon-Thames and obtained a PhD from Surrey University in Medical Physics. He then learnt in Israel at the David Shapell College for Jewish Studies/Yeshivat Darche Noam for 5 years where he studied for smicha.

He gives a weekly gemara shiur on Shabbat afternoon, as well as regular learning events throughout the year.

Ilana Freedman comes from Belmont,and attended Manchester University where she obtained her BSc degree in Pharmacology. She then attended Shearim College for Women and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya College for Jewish Studies. She has a PGCE Biology from Kings College London.

Ilana runs events for women, including a monthly meeting with events such as Pilates, Salad night, Issues and Answers and more. She is also available for one-to-one learning on a topic of your choice at various times during the week, and teaches brides in preparation for their marriage.

Rabbi Freedman and Ilana plan many activities in the synagogue and beyond, not just religious events confined to Shabbat. They also have three young children, Shaya, Yossi and Akiva who run about in the synagogue and make everyone feel at home.
